Named after an original Sussurro builder, affectionately known as Maswega, who is now the property's head of in-house weaving projects.
Handwoven in rural Inhambane Province, Mozambique by Khetu Khamba; an all female weaving co-operative based on Linga Linga island and dyed with natural plant-based pigments. Lightweight, breathable and durable, worn for shade through a working day outdoors.
Colour and texture and size differ a little from hat to hat, following the fibre and the hand that worked it. Plant pigments and a palm that regrows keep the hat close to the ground it came from.
